State archives, in each provincial capital, have as their institutional, to preserve, protect and enhance the written records produced by state bodies in carrying out their tasks.

The archives are therefore created as sedimentation documentary showing the administrative and legal office that produced them. When the documents exhaust their assets (made forty years, as they state laws) and are considered to be most useful for administrative purposes for which they were produced, they are, through a selection operation, paid in the State Archives for your jurisdiction . In these institutes are used for historical and cultural sites and certainty, they become part of the national heritage, become state property and historical sources being counted among the foundations of a civilization, of a State, of a community.

The State Archives, institutes peripheral archival administration, maintain archival peripheral organs of the State pre-unification and post-unification, archives and single documents that the State owned and deposit law, notarial archives hold the front to the last one hundred years, archives of ecclesiastical bodies and suppressed religious corporations whose assets were confiscated by the state, and archives of public bodies deleted.

We propose to the community as a universe of memories to safeguard for the future, expanding their traditional role as mere protection and preservation of documentary heritage with a wider meaning and complex addressed to the enjoyment, enhancement and promotion of it.

For several years now, the valorisation of the documentary took a conspicuous role in the activities of our current directors and then, by extension, of our Institute that in the continuous evolution of the relationship between archives and users has turned its attention to the promotion of cultural heritage with an intense and fruitful educational activities aimed at all higher education institutions and not with documentary exhibitions, meetings, conferences and study days.
The State Archives of Pescara was established as a section of the archive with DM .23 July 1960 pursuant to art. 2 of the law 22/12/1939 n. 2006, which provides for the establishment of a State Archive in each provincial capital, then State Archives DPR September 30, 1963 n. 1409.
The province of Pescara was established by R.D. n. 1 of 2 January 1927 (born simultaneously with the establishment of another 17 new Italian provinces), who directed the fusion into a single municipality territories of Castellammare Adriatico and Pescara. Backed by eminent personalities like James Acerbo and Gabriele D'Annunzio, a district aggregates formed by 49 municipalities detached in part from the province of Chieti, in part from Teramo and in part by the Eagle.
Context of the birth of the province arose also the new city of Pescara by joining a center of urban D'Annunzio, located south of the river and remained for centuries within the walls of the fortress and small and scattered nuclei of young Castellamare, situated on the left bank of the Pescara river that for centuries had marked the border between Abruzzo Citra and Ultra.
With the founding of the Fourth Abruzzo province in the capital there is the creation, in the new capital, government offices necessary for the government of the territory Prefecture, Police Headquarters, Office of Internal Revenue, Court, Magistrate's Court, Office of prov.le Lever, Directorate prov. the Post Office Telecommunications, Education Authority, and gradually all the other offices that characterize the organization of the administrative capital of the province who have paid or are paid by the archives no longer needed their administrative tasks.
The State Archives of Pescara has received the first nucleus documentary in 1963 with the acquisition and the related transfer of historical maps from the State Archives of Chieti and Teramo regarding the constituency of Pescara. The transfer of historical maps is found to be partial and limited only to those documentary series that could be broken or detached from the funds to which they belonged or were self-employed. Therefore much archival material relating to the province of Pescara and refers to the period pre-unification and post-unification, is still preserved in the State Archives of the two cities mentioned above, therefore a careful research and accurate information on the history of our country it assumes a parallel to be made at such Archives State.
It 'should be specified, as historical research is not purely local presuppose the study of the central bodies of the state and therefore archival research on the activities of ministries, should be carried out at the Central State Archive for the post-unification period and in the State Naples for the pre-unification.
The first group documentary, made by the State Civil (Civil Status records were established by decree 29 October 1808 n. 198) of the municipalities in the district of pens and the municipalities to the province of Chieti, lists of military ground of common the province of Teramo and Chieti, protocols Roganti of notaries in the district of Teramo, acts of civil or criminal judged recorded (then Courts) of Pianella and Catignano, has increased over time with the payment of other documentary series, after 40 years, as they state the laws, by the Government Offices in the Province, through surveillance activities and waste commission appointed for that purpose. These cards from the Office administrative, financial, judicial and military, as well as deposits of archives belonging to organizations, associations, families.

The transfer of responsibilities from the State to the Regions, operated in 1972, led to the suppression of some offices and the legal transformation of others, because of what was paid in our archive documentary series bodies or offices abolished including: Enal, Amnil, INADEL, Enaoli, Inam, Enpmf.
Particular attention is to be given to the problems that arose as a result of changes that have taken place within the government departments which led to the decentralization and the suppression of many offices including: the VAT offices, financial offices that have become tax agencies (Revenue , Territory, State Property and Customs: DM on 28/12/2000 n. 1390), the District Courts, Labour Inspectorates, not forgetting the mergers of many educational institutes to which the DPR March 8, 1999 n. 275 conferred legal personality extended to all the nature of public bodies, which led and still involve a considerable effort of awareness on the part of the archival administration pertaining to recovery of the documentary series of former state offices, which could be subject to losses in its delicate moment transitions from one state administration to a private character.
